Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

 

Between Tuesday 19th August at 23:40 to Wednesday 20th August at 00:04 a theft of a vehicle occurred in Bindman's Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, The vehicle that was stolen was a Ford Focus. 

 

The vehicle was stolen from a drive way on Bindman's Lane by unknown means, But some good news is the vehicle was found by officers not long after it was stolen and was returned back to the owner.

This vehicle is a keyless vehicle please read some tips below on how to keep your vehicle safe.

 

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.  
  • If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
